A Late Renaissance Period Carved Oak Bracket or Support
Having two classically drawn cherubs with curly hair and typical cherubic form. Their outer-facing arms lifted above their heads (possibly a small shelf rested on the upturned arms), their inner arms held together with a length of cloth draped over them.
Really lovely detail, and a superb colour.
French or Italian, circa 1580-1600.
Height 10 inches, width 8.5 inches.
