A Most Impressive Pair of Charles II Oak Side Chairs

Having a flamboyantly carved and scrolled cresting, above a central panel carved with stylised leaves, supported by beautifully shaped S scrolls. The raised panel seat, supported on square sectioned legs, with a simple barley twist to the top, joined by a carved front stretcher. The side, back and centre stretcher all turned.

English, probably Northern, circa 1680.
